Comment: Thanks for an interesting site about an interesting company, I was born in Kingham which was the home of Lainchbury and Sons who took over the manufacture of Roberts Elevators after Roberts decline. I worked in the Lainchbury factory for a time and My uncle worked there all his life from age 15 until Lainchburys closed, he actually worked on building the Roberts elevator for Lainchburys. Lainchburys also made their own model of elevator one being the Superlyte and I do have a collection of heavy iron components from the superlyte (inc the wheels and gears) displayed outside my workshop at home, I rescued them from a local farmer who broke up a Superlyte elevator. I have a lainchburys brochure with pictures of Lainchburys Roberts Premier elevator together with prices. |
